Purloined letter (haircut)
Graphite, gel, marker, acrylic, image transfer, wooden board
30 x 45 cm
2026
The work begins from a photograph capturing a haircut scene in a salon, which is transferred onto a wooden board. The transfer process is deliberately interrupted so that the image’s supporting surface (the paper) is retained, thereby subtracting emphasis from the image content itself and redirecting attention to the ways it is seen and responded to. The title is taken from Edgar Allan Poe’s novel “The Purloined Letter”.
